Chapter 597: 595 - Getting a Job is Impossible_1
Lu Xuan quickly got up and responded.
“After starting my cultivation, I developed a deep interest in cultivating Spirit Plants and raising Spirit Beasts, which even led me to neglect my training.”
“To gain more knowledge about Spirit Plants, I tried various means to gather different rare books. Through cultivating many Spirit Plants and raising numerous Spirit Beasts, combining theory and practice, I was able to figure out a great deal of experience.”Nôv(el)B\\\\jnn
Lu Xuan said, half-truthfully and half-falsely.
“Haha, with such effort, it’s no wonder you possess such exceptional skills in the realm of Spirit Plants and Spirit Beasts.”
Qi Wuheng burst out laughing. Beside him, Lei Zheng’s gaze towards Lu Xuan also held a few traces of admiration.
Most cultivators cultivate with the aim of increasing their own power, to catch a glimpse of the potential path to enlightenment.
During the process of cultivation, they might learn one or several cultivation techniques, but it is seldom that a cultivator does so out of love.
“By the way, little friend Lu, today you solved a big problem for me, and I should express my gratitude.”
“What would you like as a reward? Spirit Stones? Elixirs? Magic Artifacts? Feel free to ask. I do have some treasures suitable for a cultivator in the Foundation Establishment Late-term.”
Lu Xuan remained silent, wearing a faint smile.
“If we’re comparing treasures, you might find that I have more fifth and sixth-grade treasures than you.”
He sneered inwardly, but held back his true thoughts.
“Elder, there’s no need to be so polite. It was a mere matter of lifting a finger.”
“It’s only right. If other cultivators help me and I show no gratitude, it would damage my reputation if word got out.”
Qi Wuheng’s expression turned serious as he spoke.
“How about this, I’ll delay the acceptance of the reward for now. If Elder happens to come across any high-grade Spirit Seeds, I hope you will consider selling them to me first, or at least inform me in advance.”
Lu Xuan figured that the Star Envoy in front of him wouldn’t reward him a fifth-rank treasure for such a small favor. As he had no interest in the Elixirs or Magic Artifacts suitable for his cultivation stage, he proposed a compromise.
He believed that obtaining information about high-grade Spirit Seeds wouldn’t be difficult for Qi Wuheng, at his Mid-term of Nascent Soul stage and with his status as a Star Envoy from the Thunder Fire Asterism Cave.
“High-grade Spirit Seeds, I don’t have any currently. But if I do, I will surely consider you, little friend Lu.
“If I get news about Spirit Seeds, I will inform you first as well.”
Qi Wuheng promised Lu Xuan.
“Thank you, Elder!”
Lu Xuan was elated and immediately expressed his gratitude to Qi Wuheng, the Scholarly Cultivator.
For him, the value of Spirit Plants far exceeded that of ordinary treasures. Having a Golden Core Real People promise him, his chances of obtaining high-grade Spirit Seeds in the future would increase.
“Little friend Lu really is a Spirit Plant Master to the extreme.”
Qi Wuheng nodded in praise.
He didn’t expect Lu Xuan would voluntarily refuse a treasure offered by a Jindan Cultivator, just for the slight chance of obtaining a high-grade Spirit Seed.
Hearing this, Lu Xuan put on a bashful smile.
The three made casually conversation for a while. Suddenly something occurred to Qi Wuheng, and he turned to Lu Xuan and said,
“Little friend Lu, there’s a Star Envoy at the Foundation Establishment stage in another Star Cave who cultivated several Spirit Plants, and has been wanting to hire an experienced Spirit Plant Master to help with cultivation. Are you interested?”
“So, I would go to the Elder’s cave and help take care of the Spirit Plants?”
Lu Xuan asked, puzzled.
“Yes, it’s outside of Thunder Fire Asterism Cave. You have proven excellent control over beasts, and you are certainly even more proficient in cultivating Spirit Plants. You are more than qualified.”
Lu Xuan contemplated for a moment, then looked up and responded,
“I apologize, Elder Qi. Right now, I have a great number of Spirit Plants planted in my own cave that requires regular application of basic cultivation methods to fulfill their requirements. If I’m away for a long time, it would probably affect their growth. Therefore, I have no intention of doing so for the time being.”
He quickly made up his mind.
Before, if given the opportunity to cultivate Spirit Plants for a cultivator at the Golden Core stage, he might have immediately agreed. However, he had to weigh his options now.
When he first joined the sect, in order to earn Sword Marks to exchange for Spirit Seeds, he accepted several tasks to cultivate Spirit Plants and raise Spirit Beasts. But as his cultivation level improved and his status within the sect grew, he changed his cultivation method.
Initially, he took tasks to go to his fellow sect members’ caves or the sect’s Medicine Garden, but now the Dan Palace, Sword Hall, True Disciples, and Golden Core Real People actively sought him out to cultivate Spirit Plants.
If he went to the Jindan Real Person’s cave to help cultivate Spirit Plants, it’s safe to say that he would nurture at least third-grade to fifth-grade Spirit Plants for several years, possibly even over a decade. Upon successful cultivation, he would not receive any light clusters in reward, and the basic rewards would be all he could hope for.
But spending such a vast amount of time for so little reward is not worth it for him at this stage.
“I will not take any more jobs. If you really want me to cultivate Spirit Plants for you, send the seeds to me.”
Lu Xuan thought quietly to himself.
Only in this way could he collect rewards for successful cultivation while simultaneously gaining a variety of mysterious and unknown light clusters.
“If Elder or any other Star Envoy comes across any strange high-grade Spirit Seeds and doesn’t know how to cultivate them, you can bring them to me to attempt.”
Lu Xuan spoke with full confidence.
He wasn’t afraid to reveal his talent for Spirit Plants in the Liyang Region. After all, this talent posed no threat to most cultivators and couldn’t harm their interests – on the contrary, it would bring him substantial benefits.
“Alright, I’ll keep an eye out for you,” promised Elder Qi.
Seeing that it was getting late, Lu Xuan and Lei Zheng both stood to take their leave.
“Friend Lu, your talent for Spirit Plants and Spirit Beasts impresses me.”
On the way back to the cave, Lei Zheng and the Fat Bird flew side by side in the sky, and he transmitted his voice to Lu Xuan.
“They’re side pursuits that distract from cultivation, despite your diligent cultivation,” replied Lu Xuan, standing on the robustly-built Fat Bird, his robes flapping in the wind, looking very free and easy.
“Being so highly valued by a Mid-term Jindan Star Envoy is worth years of rigorous cultivation.”
A hint of subtle envy flashed in Lei Zheng’s eyes.
“Friend Lu, based on what you said earlier, it seems you can help others cultivate their Spirit Plants?”
He continued.
“That’s correct. If you have any high-grade Spirit Seeds on hand, don’t rush to dispose of them. Let me cultivate them for you.”
“The higher the rank and the rarer it is, the better. It satisfies my curiosity.”
“Given our relationship, I can give you a discount after successful cultivation.”
A smile appeared on Lu Xuan’s face as he transmitted his voice to Lei Zheng.
“Alright. If I get the chance, I’ll come to you for help.”
“Friend Lu, let’s part ways for now. Until we meet again.”
Lei Zheng’s eyes flickered, he gave Lu Xuan a salute, and with his Thunder Wings flapping, creating a series of afterimages, he disappeared with a bang.
“Seems like he has something.”
“Just obediently bring it over. With such a high-quality Spirit Plant Master who charges less and renders superior quality service, where else could you find one?”
Looking in the direction where he disappeared, an ambiguous smile surfaced on Lu Xuan’s face.
